We are a non-profit research group, working towards better understanding of the brain mechanisms that are important in sensory perception, including the mechanisms that may lead to tinnitus. We aim is to advance our knowledge of this common condition that will allow us to develop more effective treatments.
 
Our team is based at the Newcastle University Medical School. We also sometimes run collaborative projects with the Interdisciplinary Tinnitus Research Group in Zürich, Switzerland, and the Human Brain Research Laboratory in Iowa, USA.
 
Our studies are conducted with the help of volunteers with and without tinnitus, and currently involve non-invasive brain imaging with techniques such as electroencephalography (EEG), online sound therapy tests, and neuromodulation techniques such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS).
